“I traced my path as I walked”

To be part of the University of Padua, an institution with over eight centuries of history, is a source of pride and prestige. I have had the opportunity to work in various areas of the institution: research, assistance and management. This has reinforced my sense of belonging that not only considers the past but also looks to the future.
The many experiences in Italy and abroad shaped this path and broadened my cultural horizons, biomedical knowledge and planning creativity.

I was lucky enough to be part of one of the greatest clinical schools in Padua. I have also trained at The Geneva School which is the leading experimental school in the field of metabolic endocrine and nutrition-related diseases. I was able to pass on my knowledge to students and professionals, who are worldwide references today.
Now, a broader and more ambitious vision has led me to consider that to interpret the complexity of the most important chronic non-communicable diseases, there is a need for a transdisciplinary organisation. This would generate transversal change and go beyond the national healthcare system’s remit.

To respond to the “Global Syndemic” of nutrition-related diseases, climate and environment changes, new methods and a paradigm revolution of our interventions are needed. This is why CibuSalus was created.

Too ambitious? We started off on the right foot. We now need to walk.

“Food is the most basic and legitimate human need. I like to think that through our work we are contributing to the protection of a universal right: nutritious and healthy food for all”

Beatrice Giacomuzzo

Consultant

Beatrice has always been health aware. After completing her degree in Applied Pharmaceutical Sciences, she fulfilled her desire to study food and human nutrition by doing a Masters in Food Health at the University of Padua. She moved to Switzerland, to undertake her master’s thesis driven by her curiosity of the psychological theories that govern food-related consumer behaviour.
For her, food is a universal language which unites and involves everybody. With her skills at Cibusalus, Beatrice promotes solutions for an increasingly healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

“I believe that food is the main theme of our time. What identifies and distinguishes us is what we eat. Food is at the heart of a family, instilling sharing, dialogue and freedom of expression”

Tommaso Canesso

Consultant

After graduating in Statistics, Tommaso worked for several years at the Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Padua as part of projects concerning the phenomenon of educational poverty. He also collaborated with Farestat, the Department’s consulting and training center. In CibuSalus, he spends his statistical expertise on important and sensitive topics such as food and health, using a rigorous and scientific approach, oriented to produce results that can have implications on social issues.

In a world more and more immersed in an ocean of data, I like to think that these can be used to shed light on key issues and problems. Food and health are naturally among them
