Technical assistance for the implementation of the multisensory educational project “Diamo Senso al Cibo”

Client: iCare

Start date: October 1, 2025

End date: October 1, 2028

Requirements:

Schools today face significant educational and health challenges: the rise in childhood obesity calls for early interventions that promote healthier food choices; many children exhibit food neophobia and difficulty accepting new foods, necessitating an experiential approach that engages the senses to foster curiosity and autonomy. At the same time, constant digital and advertising stimuli generate “food noise,” making it difficult to recognize hunger and satiety. Schools also need tools to help prevent Eating and Nutrition Disorders (ENDs), fostering a positive body image and a balanced relationship with food even in the early stages of development. Finally, it is essential to promote school meals as a cornerstone of overall health and social interaction, strengthening the bond between schools, families, and the local community within the framework of an educational community.

Results:

The project promotes a healthy and mindful relationship with food among children through hands-on experiences, sensory games, and activities that educate about health as a holistic dimension of well-being, while also fostering early prevention of eating difficulties. The project supports teachers with practical tools and educational materials to integrate nutrition education into daily school life and strengthens the school-community bond through educational experiences at local venues.

Features:

The project is structured around three complementary levels—teacher training, workshops, and field trips—which integrate with one another to create a unified pathway for nutrition and health education. The project is structured around five strategic pillars to ensure an innovative and interdisciplinary approach that combines nutritional, psychological, and relational aspects, helping children listen to their bodies, recognize hunger and satiety, discover new flavors, and experience mealtime as a moment of care, social interaction, and respect for the environment.
