Technical assistance for the creation of a network of solidarity hubs in the metropolitan area of Cagliari

Client: Metropolitan City of Cagliari

Project start date: February 2025

Project end date: February 2026

Description of project

Technical assistance for the creation of a system of solidarity hubs in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, a public authority, through the development of an intervention model to reduce food poverty and the optimisation of flows for the distribution of foodstuffs.
The project involves 17 municipalities in the metropolitan area with a potential impact on 7,000 families at risk of food poverty.

Requirements
In recent years, the Metropolitan City of Cagliari has experienced a worrying increase in food poverty, with a growing demand for assistance that requires coordinated action between public institutions, non-governmental organisations, local communities and private actors.

Results
The aim of the Technical Assistance Activity is to lay the foundations for the creation of a system for parameterising needs and a metropolitan-wide organisation of solidarity distribution flows, supporting, through the creation of infrastructures, the volunteer network already active in the area.

Characteristic
Creation of a solidarity logistics network to reduce food waste and support vulnerable families. Activities include the mapping of the actors involved, the optimisation of food collection and distribution flows, and the operational coordination of solidarity hubs. In addition, CibuSalus monitors the social and economic impact, ensuring an effective and sustainable intervention model.
